STUDENT VISA PROCEDURE

Applying for an Australian student Visa

Anyone intending to undertake a full time course of three months or longer in a registered institution in Australia needs to obtain a Student Visa. This permits the holder to travel to, enter and remain in Australia for the duration of the registered course of study. The student Visa application fee is currently AUD 410(14,000) and is non-refundable.

Student Visa Requirements

The requirements for as Australian Student Visa are relatively simple:

An offer Acceptance: before a student can apply for a Student Visa, a valid letter of offer from a CRICOS registered Australian institute is required,

English Language Proficiency: an applicant needs to demonstrate that they the English language skills to undertake their level of study.

Sound Health: and

Financial support: an applicant must demonstrate that they can support their tuition and living expenses while studying in Australia. The financial resources required vary between the different levels of study.

Key point for your Australian Student Visa

The Australian Visa Office takes around 6-8 weeks to process a Student Visa so it is important that students submit all the information required at the time of application. Here are the key requirements for Indian students applying for an Australian Student Visa.

· Living expenses are estimated at UD 12,000 per annum.

· Blood relations are accepted financial sponsors.

· If students have dependents accompanying them, then additional finances need to be shown

· Liquid finances can be shown in the form of savings in a bank, fixed deposits, Provident Funds and Post Office deposits.

· The exchange rate used to determine a student’s financial capacity is the rate applicable at the time of the Student Visa application, unless there is a variation of more than 10%

· English Proficiency – An IELTS score is a mandatory requirement and evidence of this must be included at the time of application for a Student Visa.TOFEL is NOT accepted. The IELTS test scores.

Bonafides- The student needs to submit their past academic records for verification and also needs to submit a statement of purpose for undertaking the desired course.

Medicals – Students are required to undergo medical check-up from a doctor appointed by the Australian High Commission.

Pay Tuition Fees- Students are required to pay the first semester’s tuition fees.

e-COE and  your Student Visa – On receipt of payment, the Australian institution issues an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (e-COE) which comes directly to the Australian Visa Office. A student is now required to submit their passport to the Australian Visa Office for the issue of a student visa.
