Study in France

1. Why Study in FRANCE?: French higher education has a long tradition of openness and accessibility. No distinction is made between French and international students - under French law, the requirements for admission are the same, as are the degrees awarded. 2. Admission procedure: Commencement of semester/s: Almost all courses begin in September, but some start in January as well. When to apply: By December of the previous year for undergraduate courses.

3. Document Required: Your admission docket should include details about your academic background, recommendation letters, and Statement of Purpose/ College, essay/professional interest essay, extra curricular activities, work experience if any, language certification and a Xerox of your passport. For fine and applied arts as well as architecture aspirants, a portfolio of their works/ ideas is a must.

4. Tuition and living Cost: The course fee: Starts from as little as Rs. 12,000 to as much as Rs. eight lakhs annually or could be more. Learning French can cost you close to Rs. 20,000. The cost of living: On campus, off campus 500 Euros per month or roughly about Rs. 2.5 to three lakhs per annum.

5. Tuition scholarships: In some institutes, the tuition fee is quite little and with a living expense grant from the embassy, it can be a cinch. Though usually there may be partial tuition waivers, sometimes-French institutes waive nearly half the tuition fee for exceptional students and cap it with a monthly stipend to cover living expenses. There may also be aid in terms of air tickets, social security and/or health insurance.

6. Permitted working hours for extra income: Four hours per day, 20 hours per week, on or off campus.

7. Student visa: The student has to compile a student visa file containing three months, airline reservation, academic certificates, proof of accommodation, proof of financial resources to fund tuition fee besides living expenses for at least a year. The student then has to appear for a visa interview to obtain a no objection certificate (NOC). The NOC can also be obtained at any alliances francaise office located in India by submitting your complete file and passing a visa interview with the director. Thereafter, the student is handed a sealed, signed , stamped envelope to take with him/her to the visa section of the embassy at new Delhi, Mumbai Or Pondicherry, depending on the geographical zone.
